Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Literacy Programs in East African Villages.

A place for students to receive remedial and enrichment resources, and professional development for teachers. Students will have access to approved textbooks, and teachers will have access to guides and other instructional materials.

We desire to partner with existing schools and churches that meet the requirements for SLEM'S educational philosophy.  Corporal punishment is not allowed in a partnership school. Western style interactive teaching is mandatory.

Most village children do not speak English, the official language of Uganda. Christian based literacy programs are our way to teach English and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ by using Bible stories as one source of approved reading materials.

Resource Centers are a great way for the children and adults to have a positive learning experience without the stress of quizzes, tests, and exit exams.  Pure fun education can be accomplished while learning about the Love of God through Jesus Christ. 2020 State of the Art Interactive Learning styles married with the Ugandan style teaching, provides an atmosphere conducive for success for all who come into SLEM's Resource Centers.

“Now all Glory to God, who is able, through His Mighty Power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or imagine.” ~Ephesians 3:20

From the earliest days of planning and of casting the vision of SLEM, God has clearly led and directed the

surrendered hands of His workers. This is what it looks like when followers of Jesus step up to His Call.

Primary Schools with no books, supplies, or appropriate educational spaces or furniture are perfect places to offer new educational philosophy.

Books and school supplies are essential in providing quality education. But moreover, our partnered schools need to be willing to be introduced to a more appropriate interactive style of teaching.   After providing these supplies SLEM, through teacher in-service programs, will help accomplish this goal! Village children will then be able to compete with those students acquiring their education within the cities in terms of being admitted to top quality Secondary Boarding Schools in Kampala, Jinja, and Mukono.

“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion--how can God’s Love be in that person?” 1 John 3:17

This scripture was the motivating factor that allowed SLEM’s Director to ingest the vision of God's Plan for the children of Namukuma. These precious children deserve, and have every right, to be educated in an environment conducive to learning. Are you called to help?

Island schools are normally non existent.

We found, however, an island facility where there is potential to resurrect an existing school program that has been neglected for quite sometime.  We will help these schools by continuing the construction and remodeling processes which are so richly deserved. Providing an appropriate educational space is essential in bringing quality education to these island children!

There are countless opportunities to assist those in desperate need of help with their facilities.

Kitchens, appropriate restrooms, individual classrooms, and educational materials like textbooks, educational wall posters, and classroom teaching materials are just scraping the surface in meeting the needs of many local Village Church schools.

Women’s Empowerment and Enrichment Program (WEEP)

Serving as a local inclusion effort, Women’s Empowerment and Enrichment Program (WEEP) is a vital part of the SLEM outreach and the overall mission of the ministry. This aspect of the SLEM DNA not only takes into consideration our goal to offer children the best advantages in all areas of their lives, but directly addresses this through those who love them even more than we do!

We desire for each SLEM child to experience Spiritual Guidance, Educational Enrichment, Behavioral Etiquette, Appropriate Cultural Mores, and Preventative Family Health Care. As we have considered each of these key life-components, what better way to achieve such a goal for our children than to intentionally invest in, empower, and directly equip their mommies!
